I have established a non-profit organization called Project Guinea with intentions to benefit children in Guinea, West Africa. The goal is to provide children in need with clothing, food, medication, books and toys. Guinea is a country located in the western part of Africa that was colonized by the French until 1958. After gaining it's independence, it has been ruled by two dictators who's interests were not in sync with improving the country and the lives of those who live there. This left Guinea unable to compete in a global market, improve it's infrastructure and halted its development. Today, Guinea ranks 161st in healthcare, and 96th out of 103 poorest countries on The Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI).
Childhood is a precious and important time in one's life. It is a time where our identities form to become who we are as adults. It's vital that children are given the opportunity to become the best that they can be. Through Project Guinea we hope to help children in this important process.
